Strong 2nd Half Propels Dawson Past Pioneers

Dawson CC went on a 10-2 run in the first 2:00 of the 2nd half and broke open what was a close game to come away with an 89-68 MonDak Conference victory in Glendive on Sunday afternoon. The first half was a tightly contested affair that Dawson led 42-37 at the break. The Bucs came out hot in the 2nd half and pushed the lead to 27 points with 4:30 remaining. 

Justin Asi (6'7 Freshman) led the way for the Bucs with 22 points (9-16 FG, 2-4 3's, 2-4 FT) and 10 rebounds in only 18 minutes of action. Frontcourt mate Roniel Oguekwe (6'7 Sophomore) came up with 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-5 FT), 9 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Guard Seth Ammunrud (6'3 Freshman) scored 18 points (5-15 FG, 3-9 3's, 5-5 FT), grabbed 6 rebounds, and had 6 steals while fellow guard Ty Buckmon (6'3 Sophomore) added 11 points (4-16 FG, 1-7 3's, 2-3 FT) and 5 assists. 

The Pioneers were led by Ethan Venema (6'7 Sophomore) with 16 points (7-11 FG, 1-2 3's, 1-2 FT) and 10 rebounds. Aguir Dawam (6'7 Sophomore) added 12 points (5-11 FG, 0-1 3's, 2-2 FT) and Daniel Piech Meat (6'5 Sophomore) came off the bench to score 12 points (3-6 FG, 6-7 FT) to go along with 7 rebounds. Payton Kokot (6'3 Sophomore) added 11 points (3-9 FG, 2-5 3's, 3-3 FT).
