
Game 1 - Pioneers 11... Lake Region State 0
Rylynn Krein (Fergus Falls, MN) tossed a 3-hitter and the Pioneer bats knocked 8 extra base hits as MCC opened up MonDak Conference play with a 11-0 shutout of the Lake Region State College Royals on Saturday afternoon in Miles City, MT. The game was scheduled for Devils Lake but was moved to Miles City due to weather conditions.
The Pioneers didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard as they dropped 6 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Malory Webb (SS - Idaho Falls, ID) singled to lead off the game and Arin Eaton (CF - Belgrade, MT) followed suit. Krein then launced a double to centerfield that drove in Webb. Brooke Richardson (1B - Helena, MT) reached base on an error and Eaton scored. Krein the scored to put the Pioneers up 3-0 on a sacrifice fly RBI off the bat of Dalilah Hernandez (2B - Laurel, MT). Addison Sanders (3B - Idaho Falls, ID) doubled to drive in Richardson for a 4-0 lead. Khloey Robinson (LF - Belgrade, MT) smacked a RBI single to drive in Sanders. Adrie Mortensen (C - Rexburg, ID) doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd before Ella Anderson (RF - Miles City, MT) reached base on an error and Robinson scored.
Neither team was able to plate a run over the next 4 innings until MCC took a 7-0 lead in the top of the 6th on a fielder's choice by the LRSC defense.
MCC was able to plate 4 runs in the top of the 7th as Sanders led the inning off with a solo home run. Robinson then doubled and Mortensen cracked another home run to put the Pioneers up 10-0. With one out, Webb walked and scored on a double from Eaton for the final Pioneer run.
Eaton, Sanders, and Robinson each had 3 hits in the game while Krein and Mortenson had 2. 8 out of 9 Pioneer batters registered a RBI.
Krein struck out 8 Royal batters and walked only 2 over 7 innings.
