Dawson Community College outscored the MCC Pioneers 17-10 in the 2nd quarter to forge a 29-23 halftime lead and hold off every Pioneer rally for a 61-51 victory over MCC in a MonDak Conference game Thursday night in Miles City. Neither team shot the ball very well in the first conference game of 2023.
Dawson got 16 points (5-12 FG, 5-10 3's, 1-2 FT) Sabira Ahayeva (Minsk, Belarus) and 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3's) off the bench from Samantha Jenkins (Wellington, New Zealand) as the 2 combined for 8 of the 13 3-point field goals made in the game by both teams. McKenzi Peterson (Winnemucca, NV) added 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-4 FT) and a team high 10 rebounds. Michelle Arens (Ankara, Turkey) had 9 points and 9 rebounds to aid in the victory.
