PIONEERS GET TWO AGAINST FRASER VALLEY

Game 1

(Tucson, AZ) The Pioneers pulled out the victory against Fraser Valley Cardinals, 7-4 in the first game of the doubleheader on Monday.  MCC opened up scoring in the second inning, when Keith Manby tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Luke Turner was the winning pitcher for the Pioneers. He allowed six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out eight. Chase Feller and TY Jones entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Jones recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Pioneers.  Manby went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead MCC in hits.

Game 2

The Pioneers had all cylinders firing on offense in game two of the doubleheader, winning big over Fraser Valley Cardinals 8-2.  MCC got things started in the first inning when Lewis Johnson homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.  The Pioneers scored three runs in the fifth inning. The Pioneers big bats in the inning were led by singles by Jordon Thomson and Kiran Carcary and a triple by Chase Feller.  

Keith Manby was credited with the victory for the Pioneers. He allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five. Anthony Bleggi threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Bleggi recorded the last six outs to earn the save for MCC.  

The Pioneers hit one home run on the day. Johnson had a long ball in the first inning. MCC scattered 13 hits in the game. TY Jones, Thomson, Johnson, James Martin, Carcary, and Feller each racked up multiple hits for the Pioneers. Feller, Carcary, Martin, Johnson, Thomson, and Jones each collected two hits to lead MCC.

The Pioneers will take Tuesday off and return to action on Wednesday, March 6 to face Fraser Valley, starting at 10:00 am.
