PIONEERS MOVE TO 6-5-1 ON THE SEASON

Game 1

(Tucson, AZ) The Pioneers defeated the Fraser Valley Cardinals, 4-2 on Wednesday in the first half of the doubleheader.

Fraser Valley Cardinals got on the board in the first inning, scoring one run.  However, MCC pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Carson Hoke's sac fly scored one run for the Pioneers.  Jordon Thomson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ben Jones was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

Chase Feller was credited with the victory for the Pioneers. He lasted six innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out eight. Sean O'Hagan threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. O'Hagan recorded the last three outs to earn the save for MCC.

Thomson, Jakob BierigKade HickeyJack Stead, and Hoke each collected one hit to lead the Pioneers.

 

Game 2

A walk-off left the Pioneers on the wrong end of a 6-5 defeat to Fraser Valley Cardinals on Wednesday. Fraser Valley Cardinals trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when they singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.  MCC scored three runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by TY Jones and an error on a ball put in play by Keith Manby.  

Jones led things off on the pitcher's mound for the Pioneers. He surrendered one run on six hits over six innings, striking out six and walking zero. Chris Rofe threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.

Jones went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Pioneers in hits.
