PIONEERS DOMINATE ROYALS

Game 1

(Miles City, MT)  Luke Turner didn't allow a single run against Lake Region State College , throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Pioneers to an 11-0 victory on Saturday.   The Pioneers got things started in the first inning when Ty Jones's sac fly scored one run for Miles Community College Pioneers Varsity.MCC secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to home runs by Jones and Keith Manby and a single by James Martin.

Turner was credited with the victory for the Pioneers. He allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking one.

MCC hit two home runs on the day. Jones went for the long ball in the fourth inning. Manby put one out in the fourth inning.

The Pioneers collected eight hits.  Lewis Johnson and Jones each collected two hits to lead the team.  MCC was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Nate Bloxham had the most chances in the field with ten.  The Pioneers tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Johnson led the way with three.

Game 2

Will Riley was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Saturday, driving in five on three hits to lead the Pioneers past Lake Region State College, 14-4 in the second half of Saturday's doubleheader.  Riley drove in runs on a double in the first, a sacrifice fly in the second, a single in the third, and a single in the fourth.   In the first inning, MCC got their offense started.  Riley doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Lake Region State College scored three runs in the second inning, but the Pioneers still managed to pull out the victory.   The Pioneers pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Riley's sac fly scored one run for MCC and TY Jones singled on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs.  The Pioneers put up eight runs in the fourth inning, lead by singles by Cade Stuff, Riley, Nate Bloxham, and Jones, a groundout by Lewis Johnson, and a double by Carson Hoke.

Keith Manby was the winning pitcher for the Pioneers. He lasted five innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out ten.

The Pioneers racked up 12 hits on the day.  Riley, Jones, Hoke, and Stuff all managed multiple hits.  Riley went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

MCC will face Lake Region for another doubleheader on Sunday, March 31, starting at 1:00 pm.
