PIONEERS GO 1-1 AGAINST TETONS

Game 1

(Miles City, MT) The Pioneers watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 10-5 loss to Williston State College on Saturday.  MCC put up three runs in the second inning.  MCC's big bats in the inning were led by a single by Will Riley, a sac fly by James Martin, and an error on a ball put in play by Nate Bloxham.

Anthony Bleggi was on the pitcher's mound for the Pioneers.  He went two-thirds of an inning, allowing seven runs on six hits and striking out one.  Chris Rofe threw six and a third innings in relief.

Riley led the team with three hits in four at bats.

Game 2

Nate Bloxham was dialed in at the plate on Saturday, tallying four hits and leading the Pioneers to a 23-4 win over Williston State College.  Bloxham singled in the first, doubled in the first, homered in the second, and homered in the second.  Williston State scored three runs in the third inning, but the Pioneers still managed to pull out the victory.   MCC got things started in the first inning.  Lewis Johnson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.  The Pioneers scored 12 runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Keith Manby and Will Riley, home runs by Bloxham and Bloxham, doubles by Riley and James Martin, and a fielder's choice by Cade Stuff.

Jared Bellows led things off on the hill for the Pioneers. He surrendered four runs on four hits over four innings, striking out five and walking one.  The Pioneers launched two home run on the day. Bloxham put one out in the second and second innings.

The Pioneers saw the ball well today, racking up 15 hits in the game.  Bloxham, Manby, Riley, Martin, and Kiran Carcary all managed multiple hits for MCC.   Bloxham went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.  MCC didn't commit a single error in the field. Bloxham had five chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Pioneers will be in action again on Saturday, April 27 at Dawson Community College starting at 1:00 pm.
