PIONEERS RECEIVE ALL-REGION AND ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

baseball all-conference and all region

(Miles City, MT) The Pioneers are the 2019 MonDak Conference Champions and the 2019 Region XIII Champions.  Along with these team awards, several Pioneers were honored with both Region XIII awards and MonDak Conference awards.  Nate Bloxham was named both the Region XIII MVP and the MonDak Conference MVP. Coach Brabant is proud of the MVP,  "I have coached a lot of guys in my 28 years, so I say this with a ton of respect…Nate is one of the most positive guys I have ever coached.  He leads by his baseball skill, of course, but more importantly he leads by his character.  He always has a smile on his face, he always comes with high energy.  He is free, he is loose, and our guys feed off of him.  He is deserving of these awards for sure, but these awards have little to do with what happens in the trenches and leadership, so for me as his coach and the leader of the program, it is more important that we have guys that can almost be like another assistant, and Nate is that guy."  Will Riley, Ty Jones, and Luke Turner were also honored with All-Region and All-Conference awards.  Lewis Johnson and Keith Manby were both named to the All-Conference team.

During the 2019 season, Bloxham hit 14 home runs,  breaking the MCC all-time homerun record of 11 that was set by Ty Jones in 2016.  Nate was 1st in the nation in runs scored with 79.  He was 2nd in the nation in doubles with 23, and 3rd in triples, with eight.  Bloxham was also 4th in the nation in slugging percentage and 10th in home runs with 14. When asked about his successes this season, Bloxham said, " The biggest factor for me was understanding my swing, and becoming mentally strong. Whether it be confident and unselfish with 2 strikes, or staying positive from at bat, to at bat. It wasn't something that just "switched" for me, it was developed. Also, buying in to coach's philosophy is what kept not only me, but the entire team locked in all season."

Riley was 5th in the nation in hits, with 81 and 8th in runs, with 68.

Jones was good for 11th in the nation in runs, with 66 and 13th in RBIs, with 59.

Turner was 3rd in the nation in wins, with 10 and 9th in the nation in strikeouts, with 94.

Johnson was 6th in the nation in RBIs, with 69.  He was 16th in the nation in runs, with 64,  and 17th in triples, with five. Johnson was also 17th in home runs, with 12.  With those 12 home runs, Lewis also broke the MCC all-time home run record set in 2016.

Manby was 3rd in the nation in wins, with 10.  Keith pitched the only no-hitter of the season for the Pioneers.
