BARNES SIGNS WITH PIONEER BASEBALL

Ash Barnes committed

(Miles City, MT) The Miles Community College Baseball team has announced that Ashley (Ash) Barnes will be joining the Pioneers for the 2019-2020 season.

Barnes is a 6'3" utility/pitcher from Dianella, Perth, Australia.  He attended high school at Johns Septimus Roe Anglican Community School in Mirabooka, Western Australia.

During the 2019 season, Ash won the Baseball Western Australia Batting Award for U19's in Western Australia with a .500 avg for the season.  He also won the U19 Batting Award for Morley Eagles Baseball Club.  His team, the Morley Eagles State League Men's Div 1, were winners of the Baseball Western Australia Championship.

Ashley is the son of Suzie and Russell Barnes of Perth, Western Australia.  He is planning to work towards his ultimate goal of pursuing a health and physical education degree while at MCC.

Barnes on attending MCC: "I am really excited for the opportunity to be a part of such a successful team. I am looking forward to experiencing living in a very different place to where I am from in Western Australia. It may be tough to get used to the cold though!"

Coach Brabant on Barnes: "Ash comes to us as one of a long line of Australian players and we couldn't be more excited.  Ash is a guy that can play anywhere, including on the mound.  With his versatility and successes, we expect him to be able to come right in and fill some shoes left by our sophomore class.  His history has shown that he can compete at a high level and we feel he will hit the ground running when he walks on campus in August.  We have had a lot of success with former and current Aussies in our program and we know that Ash will carry the torch."
