Hot Bats Key For Two Pioneer Wins Over Williston

Game 1 - Pioneers 22... Williston State 5

The MCC Pioneers scored 6 runs in the 1st inning and then backed that up with 13 more in the 2nd inning to run away with a 22-5 MonDak Conference victory over Williston State on Friday afternoon in Miles City. 

Pioneer rightfielder Lance Bratlien (Helena, MT) had 2 bases clearing doubles in a 3-3 effort at the plate that included 8 RBI and 3 runs scored. 

It took only 2 hits to score the 6 runs in the 1st inning and MCC batted around 2x in the 2nd inning. 

Jace Notbohm (DH - Miles City, MT) was 2-4 (2B, RBI, BB, 2 R) and was followed by Kade Mosley (3B - Miles City, MT) with a 2-4 effort (BB, 3 R). Coleman Parry (1B - American Fork, UT) scored 4 times and had 2 RBI in a 1-2 effort at the plate (2 BB). Jessen West (SS - Billings, MT) was 2-3 (3 RBI, 3 R, BB) and Taichi Fujinaga (2B - Honolulu, HI) was 2-3 (2B, 3 RBI, BB, 4 R). Chandler Smith (C - Miles City, MT) had 2 hits and 2 RBI as 6 Pioneers had multiple hits. 

Max Holden (Kalispell, MT) pitched a complete game 5 innings (2 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 6 BB, 2 SO).

Game 2 - Pioneers 9... Williston State 5

In a much more competitive contest, Coleman Parry had a 4-4 effort at the plate including his 12th home run of the season as the Pioneers broke away from a 2-2 tie with 4 runs in the 5th inning and 3 more in the 6th. 

Parry's game included 2 doubles, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Tanner Goertz (LF - Highlands Ranch, CO) was the only other Pioneer with multiple hits going 2-4 (2 RBI).

MCC got 2 in the 1st inning when leadoff hitter Brady Bickett (LF - Rapid City, SD) walked and Kade Mosley walked with one out. Bickett scored on Parry's 1st double of the game and Jessen West walked to load the bases. Taichi Fujinaga grounded into a fielder's choice for a RBI.

Williston State tied the game with a run in the 3rd inning and another in the 4th. In the 5th inning, Mosley walked and Parry connected on his 2nd double to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. West singled to drive in Mosley and put runners on the corners. Parry scored on an error by the pitcher and Goertz drove in West with a single after a Bratlien walk. Bratlien ended up scoring on a wild pitch. 

In the 6th inning, Mosley singled and Parry followed with the only Pioneer home run of the day to rightfield. Fujinaga then doubled and moved to 3rd on a single from Bratlien. Fujinaga scored the 31st run of the day for MCC on a fielders choice. 

Trae Awbery (Miles City, MT) got the game 2 start and pitched 5.2 innings (6 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 5 SO). Sam Hall (Eureka, MT) finished the 6th inning (H) and Spencer Searcey (Denver, CO) pitched the 7th inning (3 H, 2 R, SO).
