Parry Sets Pioneer Career Home Run Record; Pioneers Sweep NDSCS

Game 1 - Pioneers 7... NDSCS Wildcats 1

The MCC Pioneers scored 3 runs in the 1st inning and that would be all they would need as 3 pitchers combined on a 3-hitter in a 7-1 win on Saturday afternoon in Miles City, MT. The games were scheduled to be played in Wahpeton but a mid week snow storm in Eastern North Dakota moved the games to Montana.

In the top of the  1st inning, Tanner Goertz (LF - Highlands Ranch, CO) reached base on an error and with one out, Coleman Parry (1B - American Fork, UT) doubled to put runners on 2nd and 3rd. Luke Thorne (SS - Missoula, MT) walked to load the bases. Goertz scored on a wild pitch and Ostyn Brennan (C - Kalispell, MT) singled to drive in 2 runs.

NDSCS scored their only run of the game in the bottom of the 2nd. MCC got that run back in the top of the 4th scoring on a NDSCS error. The Pioneers got 2 more in the 5th inning with back to back walks by Parry and Thorne to start the inning and a sacrifice bunt by Casey Morgan (RF - Salt Lake City, UT) moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. Brennan was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Parry scored on a fielders choice hit by Cooper Morlang (2B - Rapid City, SD). Bohden Bahnmiller (3B - Helena, MT) and Brady Bickett (CF - Rapid City, SD) had back to back walks to push Thorne across.

The final Pioneer run of the game came on a RBI double off the bat of Bahnmiller. Brennan was the only Pioneer with 2 hits in the game.

Lance Bratlien (Helena, MT) got the start on the mound for the Pioneers and pitched 5 innings (R, 2 H, 2 BB, 6 SO, 3 HBP). Over his past 2 starts (11 Innings), Bratlien has allowed only 2 hits and struck out 14.
