MYSTICS TOO MUCH FOR PIONEERS

MYSTICS TOO MUCH FOR PIONEERS

The Pioneers faced the Mystics of Bismarck State College at the MonDak Conference Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday, November 3.  The Pioneers started out slow and couldn't find much of a rhythm in the first half.  The Mystics took a 47-38 lead into the locker room at the half.  MCC came out strong in the second half.  They were able to bring the Mystics back and lead by ten at one point.  The turning point in the second half came when the Pioneers missed a wide open three, which the Mystics were able to take advantage of and hit a three of their own on their next possesion.  MCC also found themselves in foul trouble late with DA Wyche fouling out of the game.  The momentum shifted back to Bismarck at that point and they rallied back to lead by two in the final seconds.  The Pioneers missed two layups in the final five seconds, which would have sent the game to overtime.  MCC ended up falling 84-86.

Akeemis Williams and AK Kuany had 14 points a piece to lead the Pioneers, followed by Issac Abergut with 12 and Evan Harrell with 10.  AK Kuany led with nine rebounds.  Jayvon Lewis had four assists to lead the team.

The Pioneers will be in action again tomorrow at 11:00 am.
