The first game of 2019 was a big one for the Pioneers.  MCC faced the Pronghorns of Gillette College.  The Pronghorns are always a Region IX powerhouse and a tough team to play, however, the Pioneers were ready for them this time.  It was a tight game with ten ties and 13 lead changes throughout. MCC dominated with 28 points in the paint versus Gillette's 16.  Akeemis Williams hit a clutch 3-pointer in the end to give the Pioneers a two point lead.  The Pioneers would add a couple free throws in the end to put the game away.  It was an upset victory for the Pioneers over the Pronghorns, 85-80.

Gedeon Buzangu led the team in scoring with 29, followed by Issac Abergut with 17 and Akeemis Williams with 14.  Buzangu completed the double-double and led the team in rebounds with 15.  Abergut added ten rebounds.  Jayvon Lewis had four assists to lead MCC, followed by Buzangu with three.

The Pioneers will take the floor again tomorrow when they face Central WY at 1:00 pm in the Kailey Gymnasium.
