PIONEERS DEFEAT JACKS IN OVERTIME THRILLER

(Miles City, MT) It was an overtime thriller on Thursday night in the Kailey Gymnasium, as the Pioneers faced off against the Jacks of Dakota College Bottineau in a conference match up.  The first half saw several lead changes.  The Pioneers led by 12 at one point in the first half, but couldn't hold on to it, and went into the half trailing 35-37.  The two teams matched each other shot for shot in the second half.  In the final seconds of regulation, Issac Abergut hit a three pointer to tie the game at 89 and send it into overtime. The Pioneers found themselves trailing by five halfway through overtime.  A 3-pointer by Jayvon Lewis with 3:00 to go, swung the momentum back to the Pioneers.  The overtime period was tight, but the Pioneers ultimately came away with the victory, 97-96.  The Pioneers move to 10-11 on the season and 2-3 in the conference.

Jayvon Lewis was the leading scorer for the Pioneers with 20, followed by Gedeon Buzangu and Issac Abergut, each with 19.  Deondre Northey added 15 and Evan Harrell had 11 for the Pioneers.  Buzangu completed the double-double with 12 rebounds to lead the team.  DA Wyche led the team with five assists.

The Pioneers will be in action again on Monday evening in Glendive, MT to face the Dawson Bucs at 7:30 pm.
