PIONEERS DOMINATE BUCS, 84-61

(Miles City, MT) Thursday night's rivalry game against the Dawson Bucs did not disappoint.  The Pioneers dominated the beginning of the game, outscoring the Bucs 21-0 in the opening minutes.  After an amazing first half, MCC took a 47-26 lead into halftime. The Buccaneers were able to cut into the deficit by scoring 35 points in the second half, but the Pioneers held them off and added another 37 points of their own. As a team, the Pioneers shot 42.6% from the field and an impressive 85.2% from the line.  The Buccaneers defeated the Pioneers in Glendive back in January, however, this time the Pioneers were ready for them, getting the victory 84-61.  With this win, the Pioneers move to 13-16 on the season and 5-8 in the conference.

Gedeon Buzangu had a double-double on the night with 12 points and 14 rebounds.  Evan Harrell led the team in scoring with 19 points and DA Wyche was right behind him with 15. Also, contributing to the Pioneers win, Issac Abergut added 12 points and Deondre Northey had 11. Joey Lodine walked away with 14 boards to lead the team, and Deondre Northey led the team with 5 assists.

The Pioneers are back at home on Sunday, February 24th to face United Tribes Technical College at 3:00 pm in their final regular season contest.  Sunday's game is Staff & Faculty Appreciation Night and "Ballin' For a Cure" night.  Wear your pink to the game or be one of the first 100 people in the door and receive your free "Ballin' For a Cure" t-shirt.
