3-Point Shooting Leads Pioneers to Road Win

Akeemis Williams (5'9 Sophomore Guard) knocked down 12 3-point field goals en route to a career high 36 points to lead the Pioneers to a 83-72 road win over Lake Region State College. Miles knocked down 20-45 3's on the night agains LRSC zone defense. Jakim Ricketts (6'2 Freshman Guard) added 4 3-point field goals for 12 points and Gedeon Buzangu (6-8 Sophomore Forward) had another double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jayvon Lewis (5'10 Sophomore Guard) came off the bench to score 11 points to go along with 8 assists. Issac Abergut (6'6 Sophomore Forward) had 9 rebounds and 6 assists. 

The Royals were led by Dion Ford (6'4 Freshman Guard) popped for 26 points and 12 rebounds while teammate Myles Arnold (6'1 Freshman Guard) also scored 26 points and dished out 6 assists. Leif Nelson (6'7 Freshman Forward) had a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. 

Lake Region (0-2, 6-12) led by as many as 12 points in the first half before MCC rallied behind the hot shooting of Williams and Ricketts to take a 2-point lead at the half (40-38). The Pioneers stretched the lead to as many as 15 late in the 2nd half and are now 2-1 in league and 10-8 overall. The Pioneers will host Williston State on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM.
