Pioneer Rally Falls Short Against Dawson

A slow start for MCC was the demise as the Pioneers fell behind 0-12 in the first 4 minutes and trailed by 33-47 at halftime. DCC built a 21 with 15 minutes to play before the Pioneers rallied with a couple of chances to tie in the final 15 seconds. Both teams had balanced scoring as MCC had 5 players in double figures and DCC had 4. Neither team shot it well from the perimeter as Miles converted only 8-31 from distance and Dawson was 5-29. 

MCC (4-2, 12-9) was led in scoring by Deondre Northey (6'1 Sophomore Guard) with 16 points and 5 assists while Favour Chukwukelu (6'1 Freshman Guard) also kicked in 16 points. Gedeon Buzangu (6'8 Sophomore Forward) added 15 points to go along with 21 rebounds and 4 assists. The Pioneers hel a 50-43 rebounding advantage on the night. Issac Abergut (6'6 Sophomore Forward) had 12 points and 9 rebounds while Jayvon Lewis (5'11 Sophomore Guard) also had 12 points. 

For DCC (6-0, 17-6), Devin Collins (6'6 Sophomore Forward) came off the bench to score 20 points and grab 6 rebounds to lead the Bucs charge. Beau Santistevan (6'7 Sophomore Forward) had 18 points and 8 rebounds while Camron Dunfee (6'2 Sophomore Guard) had 15 points and Man Man Baker (5'10 Sophomore guard) had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists on the night. 

DCC was 33-77 FG and 15-19 FT for the game. The biggest difference in the game may have been the 19 turnovers that Miles had compared to only 9 for Dawson. 

Next up for the Pioneers is a trip to Bismarck State on Thursday night.
