Sophomore Forwards Gedeon Buzangu (6'8) and Issac Abergut (6'6) combinded for 34 points and 26 rebounds on Monday night as MCC rallied from an early 16-2 hole for a 80-73 MonDak Conference victory at The Well in Williston, ND. Favour Chukwukelu (6'2 Freshman) led the Pioneers in scoring with 21 (7-13 FG, 5-6 3's) and Jayvon Lewis (5'11 Guard) led the team with 6 assists and the Pioneers remained tied for 2nd in conference standings (9-3 MonDak, 17-10 overall).
The Pioneers shot 49% from the field for the game after the cold start and hit 5-10 3's in the 2nd half as they outscored the Tetons 45-35 in the second half. Pioneer defense held Williston to just 33% FG on the game (25-74 FG, 10-30 3's). MCC held a huge edge on the boards 50-31 despite turning the ball over 20 times. Both teams shot well from the FT line as the Pioneers finished 12-14 and the Tetons were 13-14 from the field. The game saw 8 ties and 11 lead changes.
The Tetons were led by Shae Linton-Brown (6'0 Sophomore) with 24 points (9-18 FG, 5-11 3's) and Jonathan Komagum (6'10 Sophomore) with 18 points (6-11 FG, 2-4 3's) and 9 rebounds in the loss. The Tetons fell to (4-8 MonDak, 13-14 overall).
The Pioneers will head to Glendive on Thursday to play league leading Dawson at 7:30 PM MST.
