Pioneers End Regular Season With Win At United Tribes

AK Kuany (6'5 Sophomore) came off the bench to score 24 points (10-15 FG, 4-7 FT) and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead 6 Pioneers in double figures in a 122-102 win over United Tribes Sunday afternoon in Bismarck, ND. The win for the Pioneers ended the regular season for both teams as MCC finished 3rd in the MonDak with 10-4 conference and 18-11 overall record. United Tribes finishes 4th in the MonDak at 7-7 and 16-12 overall. 

Akeemis Williams (5'9 Sophomore) also hit for 24 points (8-9 FG, 6-7 3's) and Favour Chukwukelu (6'2 Freshman) added 17 (6-12 FG, 2-3 3's). Deondre Northey (6'1 Sophomore) popped in 16 points (4-8 FG, 8-10 FT) to go along with 5 rebounds while Issac Abergut (6'6 Sophomore) scored 14 points and added 9 rebounds. The Pioneers outrebounded the T-Birds 55-40 on the afternoon. MCC built as much as a 26 point lead in the second half but T-Bird guard Nick Giles (5'9) kept Tribes in the games scoring 41 points. Giles hit 12-22 FG, 3-6 3's, and 14-16 FT on the day. Also in double figures for the T-Birds were Tyree Florence-Patton (6'4 Sophomore) with 20, and Herb Augustin (6'2 Freshman) and Cecilio Montgomery (5'9 Freshman) with 14 points apiece. 

Miles shot (43-79 FG 54%) and (10-17 3's 59%) to go along with 26-34 from the FT line. United Tribes was (30-84 FG 36%) and (12-35 3's 34%). Miles will play Lake Region State in first round of Region 13 Playoffs Thursday night at 5:30 PM in Glendive.
