The Dawson Community College defense gave the MCC Pioneers fits for most of Tuesday night's MonDak Conference tilt in Miles City, MT. The Buccaneers (5-0 Conference, 6-0 Overall) jumped out to a 10-3 lead and never looked back as the Pioneers struggled scoring from start to finish. Damon Gros Ventre (6'4 Freshman) and David Ajanaku (6'6 Freshman) each scored 17 points and Payton Sanders (5'10 Freshman) added 15 in the win for the Bucs. Gros Ventre (6-12 FG, 1-4 3's, 4-6 FT) also collected 9 rebounds and Ajanaku (6-10 FG, 0-1 3's, 5-8 FT) added 8 rebounds to lead the Bucs to a 48-41 rebounding advantage. Sanders (6-10 FG, 3-6 3's) also had 3 steals in the game. 

The Pioneers were led in scoring by Blessing Adesipe (6'6 Sophomore) with 21 points (6-16 FG, 2-7 3's, 7-14 FT) and 7 rebounds. Ben Datro (6'0 Sophomore) contributed 13 points (6-9 FG, 1-4, 3's, 0-1 FT) and 6 rebounds.

  • Miles shot a mere 21-69 (30%) from the field and 7-32 (22%) from the 3-point line. Free throws were also a struggle as the Pioneers hit 10-21 (48%)
  • Dawson shot 31-66 (47%) and 4-21 (19%) from 3-point line. Dawson hit 21-34 (62%)from the free throw line. 
  • Dawson had 15 offensive rebounds and the Pioneers had 17. 
  • MCC committed 20 turnovers to the Bucs 13. 

The Pioneers are now 2-4 in MonDak Conference play and 2-5 overall. They will host Williston State on Nov. 20 at 3:00 PM in the final conference game of 2022.
