In a game that seemed like everthing the Rustlers put in the air went in, Central Wyoming overwhelmed the MCC Pioneers with a resounding 122-65 win Thursday night in Riverton. The Rustler defense forced 38 Pioneer turnovers and the game was never in doubt as the Rustlers jumped to an early 9-0 lead in the final non-conference game of the season for the Pioneers. 

The Rustlers had 6 players in double figures led by Jaren Miller (6'1 Sophomore Guard) with 36 points (15-23 FG, 6-10 3's), 5 assists and Lorence Dela Cruz (5'9 Freshman Guard) with 23 points (10-14 FG, 1-4 3's, 2-2 FT), 5 assists. Lucas Engle (6'7 Freshman Forward) led the Rustlers with 9 rebounds. Jared Lucas (6'5 Sophomore Forward) added 16 points (5-10 FG, 1-2 3's, 5-5 FT) and Niieihii Black (6'5 Sophomore) had 14 points (6-9 FG, 0-1 3's, 2-2 FT). Javonne Nesbit (6'5 Freshman) and Deotis Nunn (6'1 Freshman) each had 12 points in the lopside win. 

The Pioneers were led by Denzel Kabasele (6'3 Sophomore Guard) with 18 points (6-9 FG, 2-3 3's, 4-6 FT) and Ethan Venema (6'7 Freshman Forward) added 16 points (5-10 FG, 6-6 FT) and a team high 7 rebounds. David Gorianskii (7'0 RS-FR Forward) added 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 FT).

  • The Rustlers shot 48-82 (59%) from the field and 15-32 (47%) from 3-point line. They were 9-11 at free throw line.
  • The Pioneers shot 22-43 (51%) from field and 3-10 (30%) from 3-point line. The Pioneers were 18-26 at free throw line. 
  • The Rustlers outrebounded the Pioneers 32-28. CWC had 9 offensive rebounds. 
  • The Pioneers committed 38 turnovers and CWC only 9 and the Rustlers scored 50 points off of those turnovers. 

The Pioneers (3-13) will start round 2 of MonDak Conference play next Thursday at home against Dawson at 7:30 PM.
