The Dawson Community College men controlled the rebounding side of things Thursday night at the MCC Centra enroute to a 82-59 MonDak Conference victory. The Buccaneers outrebounded the Pioneers 50-36 and had 21 offensive rebounds in a game in which they were held to 38% shooting. 

Damon Gros Ventre (6'4 Freshman) led the Bucs with 19 points (8-17 FG, 2-8 3's, 1-1 FT) and Aleksis Nika (6'7 Freshman) had a season high 13 points (4-8 FG, 3-4 3's, 2-2 FT). David Ajanaku (6'6 Sophomore) added 12 points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3's, 6-6 FT). Joe Mpoyo (6'4 Sophomore) led the Bucs in rebounding with 8 and assists with 4.

Blessing Adesipe (6'6 Sophomore) had 16 points (7-19 FG, 0-5 3's, 2-2 FT) to lead the Pioneers in scoring. Ethan Venema (6'7 Freshman) had 13 points (5-10 FG, 0-2 3's, 3-4 FT) and a game high 14 rebounds. Denzel Kabasele (6'3 Sophomore) added 13 points (4-10 FG, 3-8 3's, 2-2 FT) and 4 assists.

  • Dawson forced 25 Pioneer turnovers. DCC had 18 turnovers.
  • Dawson shot 29-77 (38%) from the field and 10-38 (26%) from the 3-point line. They were 14-20 (70%) from the free throw line. 
  • The Pioneers shot 23-57 (40%) from the field and only 5-25 (20%) from 3-point range. MCC hit 8-10 FT's.

Dawson is tied for the MonDak Conference lead with a 7-1 record and is 13-4 overall. The Pioneers fell to 2-6 in conference play and 3-14 overall. MCC will host United Tribes Sunday at 3:00 PM and NDSCS on Monday at 1:00 PM.
