NDSCS Defeats Pioneer Men

The North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats got 18 points (5-16 FG, 4-11 3's, 4-7 FT) and a team high 11 rebounds from Kaleb Larson (6'3 Freshman) as the Wildcats held off a late Pioneer charge in a 66-57 MonDak Conference game in Miles City, MT on Monday afternoon. 

The Wildcats had a balanced scoring effort Peyton Newbern (6'4 Freshman) added 14 points (5-10 FG, 1-1 3's, 3-7), Conal Parnell (6'7 Freshman) had 11 (4-9 FG, 2-5 3's, 1-2 FT), and Detavius Frierson (6'5 Freshman) had 10 (3-9 FG, 0-1 3's, 4-9 FT).

The Pioneers got 24 points (8-24 FG, 2-10 3's, 6-8 FT) and 14 rebounds from Blessing Adesipe (6'6 Sophomore) and 13 points (5-12 FG, 3-5 3's, 0-1 FT), 8 rebounds, and 5 assists from Denzel Kabasele (6'3 Sophomore). Ethan Venema (6'7 Freshman) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds.

  • NDSCS shot 23-66 (35%) from the field and 8-28 (29%) from 3-point land. The Wildcats hit only 12-27 (44%) free throws.
  • MCC shot 21-57 (37%) from the field and 6-23 (26%) from 3-point land. The Pioneers hit 9-13 (69%) free throws.
  • MCC outrebounded NDSCS 45-44 but the Wildcats had 16 offensive rebounds and the Pioneers only 9.

The Wildcats moved to 8-2 in MonDak Conference play. The Pioneers fell to 2-8 in MonDak Conference play and 3-16 overall. MCC will travel to Dakota College at Bottineau on Sunday, January 22.
