Pioneers 58... NDSCS Wildcats 82
The MCC Pioneers took a 31-27 lead to the halftime break on the road in Wahpeton, ND. What transpired in the 2nd half was a slew of Pioneer turnovers and some hot Wildcat shooting as NDSCS went on a 22-3 run to take control and go on for a 82-58 MonDak Conference win.
The league leading Wildcats (13-2 MonDak, 21-3 overall) shot only 36% in the 1st half including 0-13 from the 3-point line. That tide turned in the 2nd half as the Wildcats forced 13 Pioneer turnovers and shot 53% including 10-21 at the 3-point line.
Agwa Nywesh (6'2 Sophomore ) led the Wildcats with 17 points (5-9 FG, 3-7 3's, 4-4 FT) and 7 assists and got the help of three other Wildcats scoring in double digits. Kaleb Larson (6'3 Freshman) scored all 14 (5-9 FG, 4-8 3's) of his points in the 2nd half and Noah Christensen scored 12 points (6-9 FG) and grabbed a team high 8 rebounds in the win. Peyton Newbern (6'3 Freshman) added 10 points (5-10 FG, 0-2 3's).
MCC was led by Blessing Adesipe (6'6 Sophomore) with 15 points (4-16 FG, 2-6 3's, 5-5 FT) and 15 rebounds while Denzel Kabasele (6'3 Sophomore) added 11 points (3-12 FG, 2-5 3's, 3-4 FT). Ethan Venema (6'7 Freshman) added 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-3 FT) and 5 rebounds.
