Pioneers Rally In 2nd Half to Defeat Lake Region for 3rd Straight Win

Payton Kokot (6'3 Freshman) tallied 23 points (7-13 FG, 6-7 3's, 3-3 FT) to lead the Pioneers to a comeback 75-66 win over Lake Region State College on Sunday afternoon in Miles City, MT.  Lake Region State led 38-26 at halftime and the lead grew to 14 points with 16:30 to play before the Pioneers mounted their comeback. MCC shot 14-30 (47%) in the 2nd half including a 5-10 effort from the 3-point line and 16-20 from the free throw line to win it's 3rd consecutive game. 

Blessing Adesipe (6'6 Sophomore) recorded a double-double with 18 points (6-22 FG, 1-9 3's, 5-9 FT) and 13 rebounds. Denzel Kabasele (6'3 Sophomore) hit for 14 points (3-11 FG, 1-5 3's, 7-8 FT) and David Gorianskii (7'0 Freshman) came off the bench for 10 points (4-4 FG, 2-4 FT). Chazz Haws (6'1 Freshman) led the Pioneers with 7 assists. 

The Royals got 19 points (6-8 FG, 1-2 3's, 6-7 FT) from Ammad Mohand (6'5 Freshman) and 15 from 6-8 freshman Blessed Barhayiga (7-12 FG, 1-1 FT) to go along with 10 rebounds. Ja'vion Byers (6'2 Sophomore) added 12 points (5-16 FG, 0-4 3's, 2-2 FT).

MCC will close out it's home portion of the 2022-23 season tonight at 7:30 PM when they host Bismarck State.
