Pioneer Season Ends With Loss to Williston State

The 2022-23 MCC Pioneer basketball season came to an end on Wednesday night in Miles City, MT as the Pioneers were defeated by Williston State 88-74. The season saw the Pioneers decimated by injuries as MCC tipped off the final game with only 5 available bodies and ended the game with 3 players on the court. 

The Tetons used 14 3-point field goals and 5 players in double figures to advance to the Region XIII Semifinals Saturday against the NDSCS Wildcats in Wahpeton, ND. Abi Adedo (6'6 Sophomore) scored 21 points (7-15 FG, 0-1 3's, 7-7 FT) and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Tetons to the win. Moses Gordon (6'6 Freshman) added 11 points (4-10 FG, 1-2 3's, 2-3 FT), 16 rebounds, and 8 assists while Shaheed Muhammad (5'10 Sophomore) connected for 20 points (7-15 FG, 5-11 3's, 1-2 FT). Wilson Rankin (6'4 Freshman) had 18 points (6-14 FG, 4-11 3's, 2-2 FT) and Apollo Beck (6'1 Sophomore) came off the bench to scored 14 points (5-11 FG, 4-10 3's).

The Pioneers got 25 points (10-25 FG, 2-9 3's, 3-3 FT), 15 rebounds, and 4 assists from Blessing Adesipe (6'6 Sophomore) in his final game as a Pioneer. Adesipe ends his career with 1,132 points and 511 rebounds. 7'0 Freshman center David Gorianskii scored 16 points (7-13 FG, 2-2 FT) and grabbed 6 rebounds. Ethan Venema (6'7 Freshman) had 12 points (4-9 FG, 1-2 3's, 3-3 FT), 10 rebounds, and 3 block while fellow freshman Payton Kokot added 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-6 3's). Ben Datro (6'1 Sophomore) played with a lower leg injury and finished with 9 points (3-8 FG, 1-4 3's, 2-3 FT) and 3 assists.
