Balanced Attack Leads Pioneers to Bounce Back Win

The MCC Pioneers put 5 players in double figures and domintated the game in the paint enroute to a 95-62 win over the Dickinson State JV on Tuesday night in Miles City. 

Ethan Venema (6'7 Sophomore) scored 18 points (8-15 FG, 1-1 3's, 1-1 FT), grabbed 9 rebounds, and had 5 assists and 5 blocks to lead the way for the Pioneer victory. Ryder Lee (6'5 Freshman) hit 5-10 from the 3-point line enroute to a 15 point, 6 rebound effort and the Pioneers also got a big game from Aguir Dawam (6'7 Sophomore) with 12 points (6-9 FG, 0-1 3's), 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 blocks. 

Ethan Bell (6'0 Sophomore) contributed 10 points (4-10 FG, 1-4 3's, 1-2 FT) and 9 assists, while Koak Kok (6'7 Freshman) came off the bench to score 10 points (5-6 FG, 0-1 FT) to go along with 8 rebounds. Kris English (6'1 Freshman) had 8 rebounds off the bench and Dillon Gee (6'5 Freshman) had 6 rebounds off the bench. 

The Pioneers never trailed in the contest and led 46-31 at halftime.

  • The Pioneers shot 41-84 (49%) from the field and 9-32 (28%) from 3-point range. MCC hit only 4-7 from the free throw line. 
  • Dickinson State was 22-75 (29%) from the field and 11-40 (27%) from 3-point range. DSU shot 7-13 from the free throw line. 
  • The Pioneers outrebounded Dickinson State 64-36 and had 20 offensive rebounds. The Bluehawks had 9 offensive rebounds. 
  • MCC had 18 turnovers and DSU had 20. The Pioneers also had 9 blocked shots. 

The Pioneers are now 4-2 overall and 2-1 in MonDak Conference play. 

MCC will host University of Providence JV on Saturday at 3:00 and Rocky Mountain College JV on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
