Pioneers 90... Rocky Mountain College JV 81
Things were looking bleak early in the game for the MCC Pioneers. Rocky Mountain College came in to the MCC Centra and built a 15-point lead just 5 minutes in the contest with a flurry of 3's and transition baskets. The Pioneers settled themselves and cut the Rocky lead to 45-42 at halftime and then outscored the Bears 48-36 in the half to finish the week 3-0.
Six Pioneers hit in double figures in a balanced scoring attack led by 6'3 sophomore guard Payton Kokot (Livingston, MT) with 16 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 3's, 6-6 FT). Ethan Venema (6'7 Sophomore) added 15 points (7-13 FG, 0-1 3's, 1-2 FT), 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Ethan Bell (6'0 Sophomore) hit for 13 points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3's, 4-4 FT) to go along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Aguir Dawam (6'7 Sophomore) registered a double-double with 11 points (5-10 FG, 1-1 FT) and 10 rebounds and Jalen Robinson (6'1 Freshman) came off the bench to score 11 points (4-5 FG, 3-3 3's). Daniel Piech Meat (6'6 Sophomore) had 10 points (3-7 FG, 4-4 FT) off the bench.
The Bears were led by Luca Brooks (6'2 Guard) with 35 points (13-30 FG, 5-13 3's, 4-4 FT) and 9 rebounds. Liam Romei (6'2 Guard) added 16 points (6-17 FG, 2-8 3's, 2-10 FT).
