The MCC Pioneers took a 32-30 lead in to the halftime break but Dawson turned the tides quickly in the 2nd half as MCC turned the ball over on it's first 4 possessions of the half and committed 3 fouls that led to 6 consecutive Dawson free throws as Dawson piled up 56 points in the 2nd half for a 86-65 MonDak Conference victory Thursday night in Glendive. 

The Pioneers built a 9 point lead with roughly 9 minutes to go in the first half before the Buccaneers cut that lead to 2 by intermission. Dawson then forced 14 Pioneer turnovers in the 2nd half and after not shooting a free throw in the 1st half, Dawson got to the line 20 times in the 2nd stanza to take control of the game. 

Seth Amunrud (6'3 Freshman) led the Buccaneers with 18 points (7-13 FG, 4-7 3's) and was followed by Ty Buckmon (6'2 Sophomore) with 16 points (7-13 FG, 1-6 3's, 1-2 FT) and 5 steals. Roniel Oguekwe (6'7 Sophomore) had a double double with 13 points (3-7 FG, 7-10 FT) and 10 rebounds (8 offensive). Oguekwe also had 4 blocked shots in the game. Kur Maler (6'7 Freshman) came off the bench with 13 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 3's, 0-1 FT). 

The Pioneers were led by Daniel Piech Meat (6'6 Sophomore) with 17 points (5-11 FG, 7-7 FT) and 5 rebounds off the bench. Payton Kokot (6'3 Sophomore) scored 11 points (4-10 FG, 3-6 3's). Aguir Dawam (6'7 Sophomore) led MCC with 11 rebounds and had 9 points (4-10 FG, 0-1 3's, 1-4 FT).

  • The Pioneers shot 23-63 (37%) from the field and 7-23 (30%) from the 3-point line. MCC was 12-18 (67%) at the free throw line. 
  • The Buccaneers shot 33-76 (43%) from the field and 7-25 (28%) from the 3-point line. DCC was 13-20 (65%) at the free throw line. 
  • Dawson outrebounded the Pioneers 39-34. Dawson had 14 offensive rebounds and Miles had 10. 
  • The Pioneers had 24 turnovers and the Buccaneers had 14. 
  • Dawson had 40 points in the paint and Miles had 26. 
  • Miles had 9 points off of turnovers and Dawson had 29.

The Pioneers fell to 5-3 in MonDak Conference play and 9-8 overall. Dawson moved to 8-0 in MonDak play and 15-2 overall. Miles will travel to United Tribes on Sunday at 2:00 PM MST.
