Dawson Community College drummed up 19 offensive rebounds and forced the MCC Pioneers into 25 turnovers to take a 91-69 win in the Region XIII semifinals to end the Pioneer season. 

Sam Massaquoi (5'9 Freshman) came off the bench to score 16 points (4-11 FG, 1-4 3's, 7-8 FT) and dish out 3 assists to lead the Buccaneers to the championship game on Sunday. Justin Asi (6'6 Freshman) had 15 points (6-12 FG, 1-4 3's, 2-5 FT) and 4 rebounds. while Seth Amunrud added 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-5 3's) and 5 rebounds. Jordan Jasper (6'2 Freshman) added 10 points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3's, 2-2 FT), 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in the win. 

The Pioneers were led by Aguir Dawam (6'7 Sophomore) with 19 points (8-11 FG, 3-3 3's, 0-2 FT) and 9 rebounds. Kris English (6'2 Freshman) came off the bench to score 18 points (6-10 FG, 3-4 3's, 3-4 FT) and grab 9 rebounds. Ethan Venema (6'7 Sophomore) had 10 points (4-7 FG, 0-1 3's, 2-2 FT), 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

  • The Pioneers shot 27-56 (48%) from the field and 7-17 from the 3-point line. MCC was 8-14 at the free throw line. 
  • The Buccaneers shot 34-77 (44%) from the field and 9-24 from the 3-point line. DCC was 14-26 at the free throw line. 
  • Dawson outrebounded Miles 47-37. Dawson had 19 offensive rebounds and the Pioneers had 5.
  • MCC had 25 turnovers and DCC had 13. 

Dawson improved to 25-6 and will play the NDSCS Wildcats (30-1) for the Region XIII Championship on Sunday afternoon in Wahpeton, ND. The Pioneer season ends with a 15-17 record.
