Pioneers Use 2nd Half Rally to Get By Dickinson JV

The MCC Pioneers rallied from a 14-point 2nd half hole over the final 10 minutes to sneak out a 96-92 non-conference win on the road against the Dickinson State JV Bluehawks. 

The Pioneers started the game 1-10 from the field and didn't lead in the contest until the 3:00 mark of the 2nd half. Yohandry Ortiz (6'5 Freshman - Naples, FL) scored 21 of his 33 points (10-18 FG, 4-7 3's, 9-11 FT) in the 2nd half as the Pioneers trailed 77-63 with 8:00 to play in the game. DSU led 51-43 at the halftime break. 

With MCC leading 94-92 and under 10 seconds to go, DSU JV missed a 3-point field goal that would have given them the lead but the ball was rebounded by Mack Page (6'5 Sophomore - Worland, WY) and Page hit 2 clutch free throws to put the game away. Page finished the game with 21 points (7-10 FG, 0-1 3's, 7-11 FT), 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Koak Kok (6'7 Sophomore - Ulan, South Sudan) scored 13 points (3-6 FG, 7-11 FT) to go along with 9 rebounds.

  • DSU JV shot 32-67 (48%) from the field and 18-41 (44%) from the 3-point line. DSU was 10-17 at the free throw line.
