First Half Wave Pushes Dawson Past Pioneers

Dawson Community College rode a huge wave on Sunday in Glendive, MT as the Buccaneers raced to 67 points in the 1st half enroute to a 121-90 MonDak Conference win over the MCC Pioneers. 

Dawson built a 67-39 halftime lead on the strength of forcing 13 Pioneer turnovers and grabbing 11 offensive rebounds. 

Seth Amunrud (Sophomore - Bozeman, MT) scored 26 points (6-12 FG, 4-8 3's, 10-11 FT) to go along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals to lead the way for Dawson. Justin Asi (Sophomore - Melbourne, Australia) added 19 points (8-16 FG, 1-4 3's, 2-2 FT) and 6 rebounds while fellow sophomores Jordan Jasper (Little Rock, AR) and Kur Maler (Melbourne, Australia) added 18 points each. Maler grabbed 9 rebounds as did Aries Lewis (Baton Rouge, LA). 

The Pioneers got 27 points (10-14 FG, 3-4 3's, 4-5 FT) from Yohandry Ortiz (Freshman - Naples, FL) and 15 points (6-7 FG, 3-6 FT) and 6 rebounds from Koak Kok (Sophomore - Ulang, South Sudan). Azenio Cossa (Freshman - Maputo, Mozambique) had 13 points (6-11 FG, 1-3 3's) off the bench as did Donnie Haney (Freshman - Baton Rouge, LA) (4-8 FG, 1-3 3's, 4-4 FT). Haney had 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Mack Page (Sophomore - Worland, WY) had 9 points and 6 rebounds.

The Pioneers fell to 4-8 in MonDak Conference play and are 12-16 overall. They complete the regular season next Sunday and Monday in Bottineau, ND and Williston. Dawson is 12-0 in MonDak play and 26-2 overall.
