Coach Tait is entering his 14th full season as the head coach of the Miles Community College Pioneers after taking over the program halfway through the 2008-2009 year. The 2011-2012 campaign included a North Sub-Region IX Championship and a spot in the Region IX Final 4. The Pioneers lost to eventual Region IX Champion Otero in the semi-finals. Tait earned Region IX Coach of the Year honors and the Pioneers also finished with a 14-0 home record while averaging 89 points per game which ranked them 7th in the nation. The Pioneers again qualified for the Region IX Final 4 in 2015-16 before falling to National 3rd Place finisher Gillette College.

A 1988 graduate of Polson High School and 1992 graduate of Montana State University with an elementary education degree, led Tait into the coaching ranks. Tait served as an assistant coach for the Bozeman Lady Hawks for two seasons that included a AA state championship in 1992. Tait then accepted a teaching/coaching position at Fairfield HS (1993-2002) and served as the head girls coach for 8 seasons and head boys coach for 5. The Fairfield girls played in two state championship games and as an assistant to the boys program the Eagles played in four championship games, winning three titles. The Lady Eagles compiled a 134-65 record, while the Eagle men had a 78-44 record during Tait’s tenure as Head Coach in Fairfield.

Montana Tech (2002-2006) of the Frontier Conference was Tait’s first experience at the collegiate level as Tait served as the men’s assistant coach as well as the head JV coach. Tait earned a master’s degree through the University of Lesley while coaching at Montana Tech. Tait then spent one season as the head girl’s coach at Huntley Project HS (2006-2007) before returning to the Frontier Conference as the assistant men’s coach at UM-Western (2007-2008) in Dillon prior to landing in Miles City. Tait also serves as Assistant Athletic Director and teaches math at MCC.

Tait was the born in Boulder, Colorado as the first - born child of Karl and Lynne Tait (Polson, MT). Siblings include Ashley (Cascade, MT) who is an English/Government teacher at Cascade, MT and is married to Lara Cole. They have five sons, Trayden, Trennen, Tallen, Tyrenn, and Taxten. Jarod (Spokane, WA) is an engineer, and Austin is a businessman in Kalispell, MT. Austin is married to Terri Van Helden.  Sister Karly (Great Falls, MT) is married to Rayshaun Ames and they have two daughters Taitlyn and Teagan. Youngest sister Kinsley (Bozeman, MT) is in the real estate business and is engaged to Jared Rowbury.

Coach Tait and his wife of 10 years, Kristin, a 2nd Grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary, were married in July 2012.  Kristin is the unofficial treat maker of Pioneer athletics. She also enjoys CrossFit, following the kids sporting events, and supporting Pioneer Athletics.  Joining the family home are Tait’s bonus children Taylor (19) and Ryder (17).
