RODEO OPENS SEASON IN WYOMING

RODEO OPENS SEASON IN WYOMING

Miles City, MT - The Miles Community College rodeo teams competed at the Northwest College rodeo on September 7 and 8.

The first rodeo of the weekend was a success for the Pioneers.  Justin Dahl won the steer wrestling.  Claire Schaffer placed 4th in the breakaway roping.  Martje-Jane Plaggemeyer also placed top ten in the breakaway roping and Alexis Shipp placed top ten in the team roping.

In the second rodeo, Dalton May placed 4th in the bareback, but then had an unfortunate accident after the ride was over and broke his arm.  Dalton will be out for the remainder of the fall season.

Coach Wally Badgett is proud of his team's performance, "We were at a disadvantage, having less practice time than many of the other teams.  Our athletes were in class for one day before we left for the Northwest rodeo.  Despite this disadvantage, they performed great."

The Pioneers will be on the road again this weekend as they head to Glendive, MT on September 14 and 15.
