WITCHER NAMED NEW MCC RODEO HEAD COACH

Chris Witcher named new mcc rodeo coach

(Miles City, MT) Miles Community College Director of Athletics, Jerry Olson, has announced the hiring of Chris Witcher as the new head rodeo coach. "We are excited to get Chris on board," commented Olson. "His experience working with Wally (Badgett) and our athletes prepares him to run our program." 

 Chris Witcher has served as the assistant rodeo coach at MCC since August of 2018, while also working as the yard foreman at the Miles City Livestock Commission. He also spent time at MCC as the assistant coach from 1995-1997. Prior to MCC, Coach Witcher served as the Montana State University Men's Team Assistant Coach from 1991-1992 under Coach John Larick.

 During his long career in the livestock industry, Coach Witcher served as the vice-president of the Northern Rodeo Association from 2005-2010 and the Tie-Down Roping Director of the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit from 1995-2001. In 1997, Coach Witcher was a co-instructor for the Heisey Youth Center rodeo school for special needs children.

 Coach Witcher has accumulated many accolades throughout his personal rodeo career. He was a six-time NRA Champion Tie-Down Roper and a five-time Dodge National Circuit Finals Qualifier. He also was a three-time MPRF Champion All Around Cowboy and three-time member of the NIRA National Champion Men's Team.

 "Words cannot express how excited I am about becoming the Head Rodeo Coach at MCC," commented Coach Witcher. "My goal is for each student to receive their education while having the best college rodeo experience possible. I look forward to working with the Ag and Equine departments while utilizing the awesome new Ag Advancement Center. Thank you for this grand opportunity."

 Miles Community College President, Dr. Stacy Klippenstein, is thrilled to have Coach Witcher on board. "We are honored to have Chris join our MCC team and believe he will continue to build a top notch collegiate rodeo program."
