The MCC Pioneer Rodeo teams headed to Havre last weekend to compete in the MSU Northern Rodeo #1. Shelby Lockie (Regina, Saskatchewan) split 4/5/6 in the long go of the ladies breakaway roping but could not connect in the short go. Isaiah Asing (Haiku, Hawaii) finished 7th in the long go of the steer wrestling, then drew a setting-up steer in the short round and received a no time. Jayden Tabilangan (Kaunakaika, Hawaii) was fifth in the long go of the tie down roping but struggled with his tie in the short round and did not move up in the points. Dillon Hahnkamp (Melrose, Montana) was 2nd in the long go of the tie down roping with a time of 8.4, and then scored a first in the short round with a 9.2 to win the average. Dawson Loewen (Battleford, Saskatchewan) finished 3rd in the long and short short rounds of the steer wrestling and tied for 2nd in the average. Both men's and women's teams finished 4th overall in the point standings. This will be a short week as the Pioneer rodeo teams head for Dillon Thursday to University of Montana Western's double header.
