Pioneers Shine in Dillon

The MCC Pioneer Men's Rodeo Team had an impressive 3rd place finish at University of Montana Western Rodeo #1 in Dillon this past weekend. Melrose cowboy Dillon Hahnkamp was victorious in the tie down roping posting times of 10.5 and 9.2 seconds. Dawson Loewen from North Battleford, Saskatchewan finished third in the steer wrestling with times of 6.7 and 7.2 seconds. The Pioneer women came up scoreless.

Dawson Loewen came out on top in the steer wrestling at rodeo # 2 in Dillon. He posted a very fast 3.5 in the long round for first place and a 4.8 in the short round to cinch the average win.  Liam Pauley from Miles City won the second round of the saddle bronc riding at Dillon rodeo #2 with a solid 63 point ride. Dilllon Hahnkamp qualified for the short in 9th place with an 11.3 but didn't score in the average. Isaiah Asing from Hawaii made solid runs in the  tie down roping but missed qualifying for a short round with two 12th place long round finishes. Lady Pioneers came up scoreless while Genevieve George missed qualifying for the short in goat tying at Dillon #2 by only .3 seconds. Rebecca Nelson from Rosebud had a solid run in barrel racing but fell short of a short round qualification by a tiny margin as well. The University of Montana Western rodeos put a wrap on the Big Sky Region's fall season.

The Spring Rodeo Season begins April 2-5 at Montana State University Bozeman with a double header followed by our own MCC Pioneer Rodeo April 17-18 at Ag Advancement Center Miles City, MT.
