Pioneer Rodeo Has Solid Weekend to Open Season

The MCC Pioneer Rodeo team kicked off it's 2021-22 season with a strong showing at the Northwest College Rodeo in Cody, Wyoming. 

In rodeo #1, the Pioneers were the Reserve Champion (2nd Place) in the Big Sky Region of the NIRA (National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association).  Pioneer newcomer Cole Trexler (Corvallis, Montana) was the Men's All-Around Champion by winning the Saddle Bronc and the Tie Down Roping (10.3 seconds) titles. Daylon Danks (Mandaree, North Dakota) finished in 3rd place for Tie Down Roping (10.6 seconds) to help in the team scoring for the Pioneers. 

Rodeo #2 saw the Pioneers take 3rd place overall. Danks teamed up with Cameron Handy (Recluse, Wyoming) to win the Team Roping title (6.7 seconds) and also split and 8th place/9th place tie in Tie Down Roping (11.4 seconds). Blayne Hubing (Circle, Montana) split 6th place/7th place in Tie Down Roping (11.3 seconds) and was 4th place in Team Roping with Dawson Jackson (Delisle, Saskatchewan) at 7.7 seconds. 

The MCC Women's Team failed to score in Cody. Montana State University was the team champion in both rodeos for men and women. 

The next rodeo for the Pioneers will be at the Dawson CC Rodeo on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 17-18) in Glendive.
