Pioneer Men Win MSU-Northern Rodeo

The MCC Men's Rodeo team went to Havre over the weekend and came away with the team title at the MSU-Northern Rodeo. Led by All-Around Champions Daylon Danks (Mandaree, ND) and Cole Trexler (Corvallis, MT) the Pioneers outpointed Montana State University to take home the trophy. Danks and Trexler each accounted for 270 points to share the All-Around title. 

Danks won the long round in tie down roping with a time of 10 seconds. He finished 4th in the short round (16.7 seconds) to finish 4th overall. He teamed with Cameron Handy (Recluse, WY) to win the long round team roping event (5.7 seconds) and got 3rd in the short round (11.9 seconds) to finish 2nd overall. 

Trexler was 3rd in the saddle bronc riding overall and finished 3rd in long round of tie down roping (10.6 seconds) and 2nd in the short round (11.7 seconds) to finish 3rd overall. Trexler teamed with Tristan Setzer (Dillon, MT) to get 2nd in the long round of team roping at 6.5 seconds. The team finished in 6th place overall in team roping. Cody Acord (Gillette, WY) teamed with Ethan Strensrud from Montana-Western to finish 7th in the long round of team roping (11.7 seconds) and 2nd in the short round (6.4 seconds) to take 3rd place overall. 

On the girls side of things, Hollie Smith (Rapid City, SD) scored the first points of the season for the Pioneers. Smith finished 10th in the long round of goat tying (7.0 seconds) and 5th in the short round (7.2 seconds) Those totals gave her a 7th place finish in goat tying. 

The last fall rodeo for the Pioneers is this Friday and Saturday (October 1-2) at the Montana-Western Rodeo in Dillon, MT.
