Pioneer Rodeo Competes at Montana State University Event

The MCC Pioneer rodeo teams competed at the Montana State University event in Bozeman for the 1st rodeos of Fall 2022. 

The MSU rodeo has 2 separate rodeos during the course of the weekend. 

The Pioneer men placed 4th in rodeo #1 with 205 points. Northwest College of Powell, WY took 1st place in the rodeo. MCC women failed to score in rodeo #1. Cole Trexler (Corvallis, MT) was the star of the rodeo for the Pioneers. Trexler placed in 2 events individually and teamed up with Tristen Setzer (Dillon, MT) to place 4th in team roping. Trexler was 2nd in saddle bronc riding and 8th place in tie down roping with a time of 10.4. Those individual results put Trexler in 6th place in the All-Around standings with 135 points.  

The men's team also placed 4th in rodeo #2 with 350 points and the women's team finished in 6th place with 40 total points. Trexler was 6th in tie down roping with a time of 22.2. The highlight of rodeo #2 was a 1st place finish in team roping by Pioneers Daylon Danks (Mandaree, ND) and Cameron Handy (Recluse, WY). The team paired up for a time of 12.4 over their 2 runs. 

Hollie Smith (Rapid City, SD) was the lone point getter for the Pioneer women's team as she placed 6th in the goat tying event with a time of 16.7.

The Pioneers will host the MCC Rodeo at the MCC Ag Advancement Center this weekend (April 15-16).
