The Big Sky Region of the NIRA completed its final competition of the year with an event in Champion Arena at the Ag Advancement Center in Miles City, MT. The cowboys and cowgirls that have earned a trip to the CNFR will now start preparing for the event in Casper, Wyoming. The CNFR will run from June 12 - June 18.

The Pioneers had a rough go at their home event last weekend. The men's team scored 40 points and finished a distant 6th place as the University of Montana - Western took top honors with 760 points. The Pioneer women's team failed to score in the event that was won by Montana State University with 775 points. 

The Pioneers got a 4th place finish in team roping as heeler Cody Acord (Gillette, WY) teamed with header Ethan Stensrud (UM-Western) for that finish. Cole Trexler (Corvallis, MT) took a 6th place finish in the saddle bronc event. They were the only Pioneers to grab a place in the event.
