The MCC Pioneer Rodeo teams had good success at the season opening event hosted by Northwest College in Cody, Wyoming. There were 2 seperate rodeos in Cody on Friday and Saturday. 

Rodeo #1

Pioneer Women's Team - 4th... Pioneer Men's Team 5th

Spur Owens (Helena, MT) got his Pioneer career started on the right foot with a vicotry in bareback riding on Friday. He scored 145 points to outdistance Trevor Kay (UM-Western). Cameron Handy (Recluse, WY) teamed up with Taylor Hayden from Montana State for a 5th place finish in Team Roping with a time of 12.8. Pioneer veteran's Blayne Hubing (Circle, MT) and Cody Acord (Gillette, WY) had a 7th place finish in the same event. The Pioneer men's team scored 211.5 points for the event. 

Mary Gibson (Havre, MT) caught a 5th place tie in Goat Tying with a time of 10.5 seconds to score 59.5 points for the Pioneer Women's team. 

Rodeo #2

Pioneer Men's Team - 2nd... Pioneer Women's Team - 5th

Newcomer Owen Carlson (Pine River, MN) took a 1st place finish in Bull Riding to lead a Pioneer charge to 2nd place in rodeo #2 in Cody, WY. The Team Roping combination of Daylon Danks (Mandaree, ND)/Dawson Jackson (Delisle, Saskatchewan) earned a 3-way tie that inclued fellow Pioneer Cameron Handy (Recluse, WY) who teamed with Hayden Taylor from Montana State. 

Spur Owens (Helena, MT) traded places with Trevor Kay (UM-Western) and finished 2nd in backback on Saturday. Cole Trexler (Corvallis, MT) finished 7th place in Tie Down Roping as the Pioneers scored 492 points on Saturday. 

Mary Gibson (Havre, MT) continued here strong weekend with a 7th place tie in Breakaway Roping 8th place finish in Goat Tying as she scored 35.5 points for the women's team.
