Pioneer Men's Rodeo Finishes 3rd in Glendive; Owens Wins All-Around

Pioneer Freshman Spur Owens (Helena, MT) stole the show this weekend in Glendive, MT by winning the Men's All Around buckle at the Dawson CC rodeo. 

Owens won the long go in Bareback Riding on Friday and then finished 2nd in the short go on Saturday to finish 2nd overall in that event but scored 160 team points. Owens was the only cowboy to score in Bull Riding to win that event and earn the all around buckle and collected 120 points. 

The Team Roping combination of Daylon Danks (Nandaree, ND) and Dawson Jackson (Delisle, Saskatchewan) finished in 2nd place in the Long Go (7.3 seconds) but didn't catch in the short go on Saturday night and scored 50 team points with the Long Go finish. Cole Trexler (Corvallis, MT) and Tristan Setzer (Dillon, MT) finished 5th in the Long Go (8.9 seconds) and also didn't catch in the Short Go to get the Pioneers 20 points. 

Grady Larson (Sidney, MT) qualified for the short go in Tie Down Roping but didn't place in the event. 

The Pioneers finished 3rd place on the weekend with 350 points. UM-Western was the team champion with 660 points and Montana State finished 2nd with 540 points. 

On the women's side, MCC didn't score in the Dawson Rodeo but Hollie Smith (Rapid City, SD) qualified for the Short Go in Goat Tying but wasn't able to place to score points.
