Pioneer Rodeo Ends Fall Season in Dillon

The MCC Rodeo Teams had some strong showings in the final rodeo of the 2022 fall season in the UM-Western Rodeo in Dillon, MT.

The men's team finished in 3rd place with a total of 450 points. UM-Western won their own event with a total of 680 points. Montana State finished in 2nd place with 580 points.

The Pioneers got 2 wins in the long go from Spur Owens (Helena, MT) in Bull Riding (82) and Bareback (76). Owens injured a shoulder during the long go and was unable to compete in the short go on Saturday. The injury paved the way for Owen Carlson (Pine River, MN) to win the Bull Riding (49) as they were the only 2 that pointed in the event. Owens was disqualified from winning because he did not compete on Saturday.

Cameron Handy (Recluse, WY) teamed up with Hayden Taylor (Montana State University) to win the long go in team roping (8.1). They finished just ahead of Pioneers Daylon Danks (Mandaree, ND) and Dawson Jackson (Delisle, Saskatchewan) who had a time of (8.2). Handy and Taylor then finished 2nd in the short go (7.2) but their performance was good enough for the overall win (15.3). Danks and Jackson finished 4th in the short go (8.8) which bumped them to 4th overall (17).  Logan Van Well (Selby, SD) qualified for the short go and finished 3rd in Bareback (57).

Grady Larson (Sidney, MT) and Caden Rhoads (Bighorn, MT) were one spot out of qualifying for the short go in team roping.

The women's team got a total of 85 points after solid performances in goat tying by Mary Gibson (Havre, MT). Gibson finished 3rd in the long go with a time of 7.3 seconds. She topped that off with a 6th place finish in the short go at 8.4 seconds. That total gave her a 4th place finish in the even with a total time of 15.7 seconds. Cierra Vons Cooper (Reno, NV) finished 2 spots out of qualifying for the short round.

The will be a fall season wrap up with standings coming in the near future.
