Pioneers Compete in 2 MSU-Northern Rodeos

MSU-Northern Rodeo 1 (September 21-22)

The Pioneer women's rodeo team finished in 4th place in rodeo #1 with a total of 110 points and the men's team finished in 6th place with 140 points. Montana-Western dominated the men's side of things with 1,155 points and MSU-Northern took home the title on their home dirt with 420 points. 

The Pioneers got a strong showing from Sidney native Grady Larson with a 2nd place finish in Tie Down Roping with a combined time of 24.2 seconds. Marshall Senger (Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan) got 3rd place points in Bull Riding even though he didn't score. 

Tycie Phalen (Miles City, MT) highlighted the finishers on the women's side of things with a 3rd place finish in Barrel Racing with a combined time of 26.52. Mary Gibson returned to her hometown of Havre and finished 7th in Barrel Racing with a combine time of 26.7 seconds. Cierra Vons Cooper (Reno, NV) finished 5th in Goat Tying with a combined time of 16.7 seconds. 

 

MSU-Northern Rodeo 2 (September 23-24)

Consistency from the Pioneer rodeo team was the theme for rodeo #2 as the men's team once again scored 140 points to finish in 5th place and the Pioneer women upped their score to 160 points for a 4th place finish. 

Tycie Phalen once again finished 3rd in Barrel Racing with a combined time of 25.95 seconds and Mary Gibson upped her finish to 5th place with a combined time of 26.47. They were the only Pioneers to score on the women's side. 

Owen Carlson (Pine River, MN) was the top finisher on the men's side with a 3rd place finish in Bull Riding with a score of 60. Marshall Senger finished in 4th place without a score. 

MCC will finish the fall rodeo season this weekend in Dillon, MT at the UM-Western Rodeo on Friday and Saturday.
