Pioneer Softball Team Rocks Tetons

The Miles Community College Softball team, playing its first season in school history, piled 18 runs on the board in just 4 innings to walk away from pre-conference tourney in Minot with a 2-1 record.

The Pioneers whipped up on the Williston State Tetons on Sunday afternoon by the score of 18-6 in a game that ended in 5 innings due to the 10-run rule.

The bats were clicking for the Pioneers as Tessa Della Silva (Hamilton, MT) had 3 hits including a triple and Sanoe Samante (Ewa Beach, Hawaii)  added 3 hits (2 doubles) and 4 RBI on the game. Taylor Woolley (Post Falls, ID) had 2 hits and scored 3 runs this Sunday. 12 different Pioneers had hits on the afternoon in which they dominated the Tetons from start to finish. MCC put 9 runs on the board in the first inning to sieze control.

Kyla Johnson started the game in the circle for MCC but didn't have her best stuff on this day as she didn't make it out of the first inning. She gave up 3 runs on 1 hit with 2 walks. She was replaced by Ashlin Hiller sho gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk in 1.0 innings. Regan Harper came in to clean things up as she pitched 4.0 innings and only gave up 2 hits, 2 runs, but walked 3 batters. The Pioneers walked 6 Tetons on the day to keep WSC in the game early. The Pioneers will have plenty of time to work out kinks in the armour as they don't play again until March 9 in Arizona.
