Pioneers Sweep 4-Game Set at Home

Game 1 - MCC 19... DCB 4

The MCC Pioneer softball team had the hot bats in order on Sunday afternoon hitting 6 home runs in a 19-4 drubbing of Dakota College-Bottineau in game 1 of the doubleheader. SS Abby Johnson and OF Ashlin Hiller each belted 2 home runs and CF Autumn Porter added a homer as did LF Taylor Woolley. Johnson went 4-5 with 3 RBI and 4 runs scored and Hiller was 2-2 with 5 RBI. 3B Kelealani Waiau was 3-3 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored and Woolley was 2-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. The Pioneers had 18 hits in the game and amassed 12 runs in the top of the 6th inning to put the game away for good. 

Kassidy Kinzie took to the circle and had a complete game 5-hitter. She gave up 4 runs and struck out 5 while only walking 2 Lumberjack batters. 

Game 2 - MCC 26... DCB 15

Autumn Porter was back at it again at the plate going 4-5 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI as the Pioneer bats belted 21 hits in a 26-15 victory and 4-game sweep of the Dakota College. Catcher Aly Radford belted 2 home runs in a 2-4 effort at the plate and had 7 RBI while Tessa Della Silva homered twice going 2-6 at the plate with 3 RBI. Kelealani Waiau was 2-4 at the plate and had 4 RBI. 

MCC led 17-4 and it look as though they might end the game early, but DCB scored 4 in the 4th inning and 8 more in the 5th to cut the gap to 17-14 before the Pioneers exploded for 8 runs in the 7th on the strength of home runs by Porter and Kassidy Kinzie. Kinzie was 2-3 with 2 RBI and scored 3 runs. 

Taylor Woolley started in the circle and pitched 1 inning. She walked 3 and gave up 2 runs on 1 hit. Waiau pitched the next 2 2/3 inning sgiving up 12 runs on 7 hits as she walked 7 Lumberjacks. Regan Harper pitched 1 inning and walked 2 while strking out 1. Kassidy Kinzie finished things off with 2 1/3 innings and 3 strikeouts, 1 walk, and 1 run on 1 hit. 

MCC travels to Bismarck State next Friday and plays at home again on Saturday, April 3 with another doubleheader vs. the BSC Mystics.
