Game 1 - Pioneers 0... Phoenix College 9

Phoenix College pitcher Brianna Hardy tossed a complete game one hitter and struck out 11 Pioneers enroute to a 9-0 victory over Miles Community College on Thursday in game 1 of a doubleheader. Phoenix opened the game with 2 runs in the 1st inning and followed that up with 4 more in the 2nd for a commanding 6-0 lead. They then tacked on 2 more in the 3rd and tacked on another in the 4th to end the game after 5 innings.

The Pioneers only hit for the game came in the 4th inning by LF Liz Ybarra (Belgrade, MT).  Fellow Belgrade native Hazel Eaton started in the circle for MCC and went 1.2 innings in the game giving up 6 runs on 7 hits. She struck out one batter. Madi Henry (Spanish Fork, UT) finished the final 3.1 innings and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits, striking out 2 and walking one.

Game 2 - Pioneers 0... Phoenix College 6

In what seemed to be a repeat of game 1, Phoenix College pitcher Marisa Chavez allowed only one hit over 7 innings and struck out 9 Pioneers for a 6-0 win over MCC and a doubleheader sweep of the Pioneers.

CF Skyler Higgs (Livingston, MT) mustered up the only Pioneer hit in the 2nd inning as the only offense MCC could muster up was 4 walks by pitcher Chavez. Phoenix stirred up 3 runs in the 1st, 2 in the 3rd and one more in the 4th inning.

Kelealani Waiau (Puget Sound, WA) was the starting pitcher for MCC and went 4 innings and gave up 6 runs on 7 hits and walked one. Alex Carr (Idaho Falls, ID) pitched the final 2 innings and didn't allow a hit while walking only one batter. Neither Pioneer pitcher recorded a strikeout.

The Pioneers will wrap up their spring break trip Friday with a doubleheader against Roosevelt JV at 2:30 and 4:45 PM MST.
