Pioneers End Regular Season By Taking 2 More Against Bottineau

Game 1 - Pioneers 8... Lumberjacks 0 (5 Innings)

Hazel Eaton (Belgrade, MT) stepped in the circle and dealed a gem of a game to lead the Pioneers to a 8-0 win over Dakota College in 5 innings on Sunday morning. Eaton tossed a 1-hitter (0 BB, 0 SO) and the Pioneer defense behind her was flawless and didn't commit an error in the game. 

Most of the Pioneer damage was done offensively in the 4th inning as MCC scored 5 runs pulling away from a 1-0 lead. DP Mars Weaver (Rexburg, ID) came thru big at the plate going 2-3 (HR, 2B, 4 RBI) and 3B Megan Toplovich (Great Falls, MT) joined Weaver in the Sunday morning home run club going 2-3 (HR, RBI, 2 R). 2B Abby Johnson (Hamilton, MT) was a perfect 2-2 at the plate with an RBI. C HaiLeigh Davis (Shepherd, MT) added a 2 RBI single for the final runs of the game. 

SS Sierra John (Idaho Falls, ID) and RF Alexa Lewis (Bozeman, MT) each stole 2 bases in the game. 

 

Game 2 - Pioneers 11... Lumberjacks 3 (6 Innings)

DP Mars Weaver continued her hot day at the plate with a 3-4 effort that included 2 more home runs as the Pioneers ended the regular season with a bang in a 11-3 win over the DCB Lumberjacks. Weaver's stat line included 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. 3B Megan Toplovich joined the home run club again with a 1-3 effort (HR, 2 RBI, 2 R). Sierra John was a perfect 2-2 (2B, 2 R) and was the other Pioneer with multiple hits. 

10 Pioneers cracked a base hit in the game including doubles by Megan Johnson (Preston, ID), Reed Johnson (Columbus, MT), and Sam Burke (Cut Bank, MT). Morgan Lampshire (Murray, UT) popped out a triple and the Pioneers also got a hit from Skyler Higgs (Livingston, MT), Abby Johnson, and Jocelyn Lujan (Murray, UT).

Alex Carr (Idaho Falls, ID) got the ball in the circle and pitched a 6 inning complete game to pick up the win. Carr gave up 3 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. 

The Pioneers will now play in the Region XIII West Playoffs Tuesday thru Thursday in Glendive, MT. They will open the tournament on Tuesday at 12:00 PM MST against Lake Region State College. The Pioneers are 20-12 overall and 13-7 in MonDak Conference play.
