MCC Softball Ends Season With 4-Game Sweep of DCB

Game 1 - Pioneers 13... Dakota College @ Bottineau 2 (5 Innings)

The MCC Pioneers piled up 10 runs in the 2nd inning after falling behind 2-0 in the 1st inning and then finished things off with 3 runs in the 4th inning to take game 3 of the 4 game series Sunday in Miles City. 

Arin Eaton (Belgrade, MT) had a stellar game in the circle for the Pioneers pitching a complete game 2-hitter (5 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO). Both hits came in the 1st inning and Eaton shut down the Lumberjacks after that. 

The Pioneers got 10 runs in the 2nd highlighted by a 3-run home run from Isabelle Adams (3B - Park City, MT) after the Pioneers had already had 8 hits in the inning and 14 batters went to the plate. 

MCC got 3 insurance runs in the 4th inning to end the game due to the 8-run rule in the 5th inning. Brooke Richardson (DP - Helena, MT) and Sierra Tuss (2B - Belgrade, MT) both singled and Adams followed that with a one out single to score Richardson and Tuss was thrown out at home. Lily Bolin (1B - Belgrade, MT) singled to move Adams to 3rd and Viannca Martin (RF - Billings, MT) drove in the final 2 runs with a double. 

Both Adams and Bolin were a perfect 3-3 at the plate while Richardson and Shannon Nelson (SS - Livingston, MT) each had 2 hits.

Game 2 - Pioneers 16... Dakota College @ Bottineau 0 (5 Innings)

The Pioneers popped off 15 hits and scored in all 4 innings that they batted and Rian Ferriter (Butte, MT) followed up Arin Eaton's 2-hitter with a 2-hitter of her own as the Pioneers smacked the Lumberjacks 16-0 to end the regular season. 

After building a 5-0 lead after 2 innings the Pioneers exploded for another 10 run inning in the 3rd. The inning was highlighted by home runs from Shannon Nelson (SS - Livingston, MT), Taylor Feller (C - Laurel, MT), and Peyton Whitehead (DP - Joliet, MT). The Nelson and Whitehead (3 RBI) home runs were the 1st of their career. 

Nelson (4 RBI), Feller (3 RBI), Eaton, Adams (2 RBI), Sydney Rusdal (RF - Libby, MT), and Tuss all had 2 hits in the game. Cassidy Bagnell (CF - Frenchtown, MT) had the other 2 Pioneer RBI.

Rian Ferriter tossed her 2nd 2-hitter in as many days. She pitched 5 innings (2 H, 2 BB, 6 SO).

The Pioneers finish the regular season 22-12 overall and 16-8 in MonDak Conference play. They will play the winner of Dakota County Tech/Bismarck State game Thursday at 4:00 in the Region XIII Playoffs in Glendive May 2-3.
